For the 1st time I have decided NOT to buy school pictures. I feel like a horrible mom, but I can't justify paying all that money for pictures! (they hardly ever turn out cute anyway!) I always buy the packet that has at least 1 8x10. Guess how much!!!! $58.00 I couldn't believe it! I started to buy them and THEN I just freaked out! I felt like I was having a outer body experience! I was watching my consonance fight with itself! These were my thoughts!
*4 kids $58.00 each. Oh my goodness!!! That's $232.00!
* What about those poor kids!
* My kids the poor kid.
* No hes not.
* That is a RIP off!!
* but everyone else buys them.
* Who cares about everyone else.
* I have to buy them.
* no you don't!
* I will just take pictures myself. I have a nice camera.
* You won't do it and then... Your kid won't have any pictures!
* 1,625 students at Dylan's middle school. If only 1/2 buy the $58.00 package. That's $47,129. DOLLARS!!!!!!!!!
*$47,129. DOLLARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*Wow... Maybe I should start my own photography business.
*I wonder who could be my business partner?
*If I did that I would never have to feel guilty for not buying school pictures again.
*I wonder if I'm just being CHEAP?
*Okay, I'll buy them.
*No!! The insanity has to stop somewhere!!
So ................................................................................................after talking to myself and my husband.(bless his sweet soul) We(I) decided NOT to buy school pictures. Awww Mendie! Of course you are right! You take such beautiful pictures of your kids anyway........ who needs the "school "pictures. We have only bought one set of pictures of Leeky and that was last spring, they were just too cute to not buy! As for your own business....... you can do it! I would love to go into business with you. My camera is a fairly good camera, but I think I have just plain wore it out.So, move to Phoenix, .. lol and lets get riccch!
Seriously.... your are an awesome photographer! I am sure everyone here agrees with me as well!
No guilt! I'm sure your kids will not be traumatized for not having school pictures taken :)
Love you!!!!!!!!
Marla
Oh my heck! Of course it is fine that you don't buy school pictures! Life is too short to have too much guilt! Your pictures are adorable!
SERIOUSLY that is RIDICULOUS! and your pictures of your kids are much better than what they would have been at school! I love the outside shots much better anyways! So way to go for not paying the ridicuolous amount! I love the pics of the kids and your daughter is so beautiful just like her mommy!!!!
Love ya!
PS Mendie you are an awesome photographer and you could start a busniess! By the way what kind of camera do you have? I have a nikon D40 but want to upgrade!
I have not bought school pictures for about 6 years now. I always have taken them to JCPenney, or taken them myself. I personally think that school pictures are the biggest ripoff ever! Stay strong! You can do it! The pictures of your kids, that you have on your blog, are darling!
Hey Mendie, I lost all my favorite people when I changed my blog and so i am just catching up. The pictures of the kids are great! The school pictures are a rip off, especially if you are paying $58 each. I tend to get the class picture for $14, that way they can at least remember who was in there class. Have a great one!
These pictures turned out so cute! Much better than those school pictures Kenzie's eyes look so beautiful!
Ok, so I had that EXACT conversation with myself 2 weeks ago! Except I never explored the idea of starting my own photography business. I am definitely not that talented. Anyways, you are not a cheap mom nor do you have to feel quilty about not buying those overpriced portrait packages! I opted to not purchase my kids school photos and I really don't feel quilty about it. I am impressed with JC Penny and their photos are only $3.99 a sheet!!
Great pictures! Not that I have the option but I wouldn't want to buy the school pics either for that price. Not when you can take them on your own. :)
